Canadian Water Ski Assoc Needs Re Organizing

Clint Ward of Toronto, assistant judge at the Canadian Closed Water Ski Championship at Lac du Bonnet, urged a reorganization to reach national standards. He called for trained judges, proper course layouts, and upgraded equipment, arguing past meets fell short of criteria set by national bodies. Ward cited Sherbrooke, Minnedosa, and Lac du Bonnet as examples and urged winners qualify for the next event with travel expenses covered by the association.

Muirhead leads Canadian Closed Water Ski meet at Lac du Bonnet

Brian Muirhead of Betula Lake Ski Bees set the pace at Lac du Bonnet, breaking a slalom record and leading jumping with 115 feet. He posted 42 points in slalom at 38 mph before a day of strong displays by rivals, with Patsy Muirhead sweeping junior girls events and George Athans dominating junior boys.

Good Roads Judges Tour Manitoba Towns

Manitoba Good Roads Association judges toured Whitemouth Pinawa Alexander and nearby towns assessing road maintenance and beautification efforts. The 56th year of the association features competitions like Best Farm Home Grounds and Beautification, with 74 municipalities entering in 1964 and four judging teams covering four province regions.

Trophy Fish Report From Winnipeg River

Two trophy fish were reported last week in the Winnipeg River. Mrs M Van Bastelaire of Lac du Bonnet caught a pound 9 ounce Goldeye on July 27. Bert Leveque of Pinawa caught a 22 pound Northern Pike, 45 inches long, just out from Pinawa in the Winnipeg River on July 27.

Recreation Program Off to Good Start in Lac du Bonnet

Lac du Bonnet's recreation program under Mr. Jim McClements began strongly with an adult mixed ball game and growing attendance. Track and field practices run daily at 9:30 a.m. at the ball field, swimming lessons for beginners at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with Red Cross awards planned.

Pointe du Bois 4-H members earn multiple purple and pink ribbons at provincial Brandon and Red River exhibitions. Local Teachers Attend Cuisenaire Course in Manitoba

Sixty Manitoba teachers will take part in the five day Cuisenaire course of the Manitoba Teachers Society at Isaac Brock School Winnipeg from August 9 to 13. Another group of sixty is registered for a parallel session at Earl Oxford School Brandon with participants including Miss M J Walton Pinawa Elementary.
