Preparations underway for a three act play by United church members aiming for a May show. The Pine Falls restaurant has remodel work nearing completion and Margaret Guinn has become switchboard operator after a recent engagement. Hudson's Bay store to be built opposite its current site with completion expected next fall. Transportation solved by Stan St. Croix’s Pine Falls to St George bus line aiding shoppers and mill workers. Florence Ford vacationing after nursing training at St. Boniface. Herb Brown recovering from major surgery in St. Boniface hospital. Mr. Tanner recovering from a fall, now using no crutches. Mr. Lint joining Pine Falls Collegiate teaching staff. Mrs. C Smith progressing favorably at St. Boniface Hospital Lan. Dave Brewster recovering in hospital two weeks. Bob Lyons back in town with Woods department, Don Bosma and Bert Robinson also back at the mill. New hotel finishing touches. Cedar street gains J. G. Morrison and daughter as new residents. Morrison works in the new laboratory. Mrs. Dave Brewster hosted Baseball club. Noreen Sloan leaves Winnipeg for a stenographic job in Montreal.

Duchess of Windsor Attends Four Day House Party at White Sulphur Springs

Guests include the Duchess of Windsor and Robert R. Young as leaders in business society and film gather at White Sulphur Springs West Virginia for a four day celebration following the return of a local hotel to civilian use. The hotel had previously served as a camp for German and Japanese internees and was later operated by the army.

A surprise farewell on April 21 honored Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Bethel as they prepare to move to Vancouver British Columbia. Coronation flatware was given to the Bethels by W. Craik with best wishes for happiness in their new home. Beausejour born couple have lifelong local ties and were supported by many neighbors and friends in events extending to April 19 and 23 honoring Mrs. Bethel and Cora Bethel respectively.

Winter Club Stages Third Amateur Show at Chateau

The Pine Falls Winter Club hosted its third amateur show on Thursday April 22 at the Chateau drawing a large crowd. Master of ceremonies W S Bill Jackson led with helpers J Miller N Smorang B Dimock Audrey Perry and Bert Wood. Winners were Edward Malo and Raymond Lavoie first Donnie McDonald and Johnnie Bayley second Edith Bayley third. A post show party with Duffly orchestra followed providing refreshments and music.

Pine Falls Bowlers Win Big at Norwood Trophy Event

Pine Falls Five Pin bowling team toured to Winnipeg for the Norwood Bowling Alley Travelling trophy on April 18. Ivy Warmers of Norwood scored 256, Paul Danylchuk led Pine Falls with 342 for high three games. Norwood won with 3 087 total. Dwight Miller of Norwood posted 84 in pins.

Obituary of Dan Litke Beausejour Resident 52

Dan Litke 52 Beausejour resident died at home on Thursday April 22 after a heart attack. Born in Russia he lived in the United States about nine years then moved to Canada settling in Beausejour. He served as a Lutheran church member and trustee and sat on the town council. He worked as a dragline operator for Frank Waters Construction and later for the North Eastern Flour Mills. Surviving: widow Augustine two sons Alfred and George four daughters Elsie Dorothy Hannah Eleanor two brothers Leo and Chris two sisters Mrs Freund and Mrs Fred. Funeral April 27 at Russell's chapel and Lutheran church with Rev H Moertelmeyer officiating. Burial in Beausejour cemetery.

Hawrylo Kiekusz 75 died April 15 at his Stead Manitoba residence after living in Canada over 50 years. Funeral held April 19 at 10 a.m. Greek Catholic church Thalberg officiated by Fr Shek Selkirk. Obituary: Jacob Osachuk 69 of Dencross dies in Beausejour

Jacob Osachuk aged 69 died and funeral services were held April 20 at 10 a.m. at the Brokenhead Greek Catholic Church officiated by Rev J Carmylo. Interment followed in the churchyard cemetery. Survived by his widow Mary four daughters Jennie Paris on Annie Kolton Nellie and Mary and four sons John Mike Nick Paul. Born in Austria he came to Canada 45 years ago and lived in Dencross 32 years. Russell's Beausejour handled arrangements.

The Zion Luther League of Beausejour Lutheran church held a social evening on April 21 for 35 guests to honor recently confirmed members. The highlight was a scavenger hunt featuring a "lock of red hair" as one item, many red heads losing some of their hair, followed by lunch to conclude a very enjoyable evening.
