The wedding on April 8 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Bissell Lac du Bonnet joined Miss Agnes Hanson and Martin McKeand. Beausejour Women’s Institute Hosts April Meeting
The Women’s Institute met at the Beausejour hotel on Tuesday April 6 with president Mrs M Stepaniuk presiding. Miss Anderson of the Selkirk Health Unit spoke on a Beausejour clean-up campaign and received unanimous support from the group. The discussion included Mrs B Warkentin Mrs H Dugard Mrs S Henderson Mrs M Stepaniuk and Miss Mona McLeod. Members praised the talks and a lunch followed. Donations of canned meat were sent to the European family the institute supports, next parcel to include personal items.

Obituary Emma Swanson Passes Away in Manitoba
Emma Swanson died at Pine Falls hospital on Wednesday April 7 at age 84. Born in Sweden she moved to Canada in 1905 and lived in Manitoba since. Survived by a son in St Thomas Ontario and a daughter Mrs Ellstrom of Riverland. Funeral held April 12 in Teulon Manitoba at 2 p.m. Renshaw funeral home arranged.

Great Falls Fire Victims Recovering
According to Pine Falls hospital report, Mrs Lillian J. Cook and her three month-old daughter Audrey are recovering from severe burns suffered in the Great Falls fire that killed Annie Cook, 20 months, and destroyed a one-room home on April 3. Mrs Cook escaped the flames attempting to rescue her child.

The National Barley Contest awarded four major prizes totaling 25000 with Alberta growers capturing the grand and reserve titles. James W. Bussey of Airdrie Alberta won the national championship and received 1000 dollars while Alberta runner up A Henry Segal earned 500 dollars and Manitoba growers took third and fourth prizes 300 and 200 dollars respectively at the Manitoba Winter Fair in Brandon recorded April 8.

Beausejour Board of Trade Donates to Memorial Fund
The Beausejour Board of Trade met April 5 at the Town hall. They donated 500 to the War Memorial Fund and 100 previously, planned Safety Lane again, and outlined committees for Farmers Day and industry events. The skating rink operated at a deficit of 320.69 and the fire alarm will be used for drills with minimal disruption.

Fireclaims in Manitoba dwelling leave two children dead
A fire in a lean-to beside a dwelling trapped three occupants. A woman and a surviving child were hospitalized in critical condition with 40 percent burns, while a second child died. Fire started in the lean-to as occupants awoke to a blazing house. Winnipeg Electric plant superintendent K C Ferguson phoned Dr I W Sneath. J O Jones collected first aid supplies. R C M P and a doctor transported the victims to Pine Falls by panel truck.

Curlers Mark Season's End With Club Wind-Up
The Pine Falls Curling club held its annual wind-up on Friday April 9 at The Chateau. Doug Brown praised all for the season and, with Mrs Dan Wardrop, awarded Ladies Bonspiel trophies to Mrs W Frederick Mrs F Ford Mrs W Roy and Miss Mary Ford. Second prize spoons went to the Anne Crawford rink. Regular season winners were the J Lyon rink the J J Jackson rink and the R Taylor rink, who received Jumbo curling sweaters. Other spiel winners included the L Court rink the J B Lalonde rink the W Frederick rink the J Hunter rink and the E Manson rink. Prizes were donated by Manitoba Paper Company Hudsons Bay Store Sunde's Store J Desilets Garage and J MacDonalds Garage. Curling club ladies served lunch to finish the evening.
