A two year old boy died after a throat obstruction believed to be a swallowed ring found in a post mortem exam. The mother says the child suffered for two months and doctors suspect the ring remained in the throat for that period.
Judge Jackson of the U S district court continued restraining state officers from collecting back taxes on the Chesapeake and railroad until November 1. The company owes about 14000 dollars in back taxes. a judgment was issued in July to the U S Supreme Court, and after November 1 the state may levy on the railroad company property. Near Warrenton a shooting ends with Hankinson surrendering after Baldwin is killed following an argument.
At Ciatasooga on September 7 a prominent clergyman William T. Nanny was shot during a mob attack and died from his wounds the next morning. A Black man also shot was reported very low and may die, while another wounded man sustained minor injuries.
