It touches on Illinois politics around Logan, military appointments, and Van Wyck, plus Porto changes, labor strikes, and demonstrations. It notes Canadian health, immigration, and Russian diplomacy while mixing bemused commentary on public notices and local events.

Tragic Railroad Fatality Claims Life of Adrian Barnes
A late night freight yard accident on East Street at the Champion warehouse sight led to the death of Adrian Barnes, a yard master with the Southern railroad. Described witnesses say Barnes fell from a box car as a side hold gave way, his body severely crushed by passing cars and the car’s roof. The coroner’s inquest is set for this evening. Barnes, a Cleveland immigrant once under superintendent Thornburg, leaves a wife and child and was a respected employee and member of Ephraim Lodge No. 148 I.O.O.F. His death follows several prior incidents tied to unsafe steps and holds on the yard.
