Forced Away from Love in a Turbulent Victorian Court Case
A lengthy narrative unfolds around Jenny Strangfield and her lover Johnny as Mr Shaw of Greystourhall resists a marriage, while Jenny confronts parental pressure and social scrutiny. The scene shifts through a parlor confrontation with doctors, legal figures, and newspapers noting a contested betrothal, with emotional tension between duty, family authority, and personal longing driving the drama.
