Police received word last Monday that John L Whitfield a slayer suspect was in Seatonville headed toward Spring Valley. A Seatonville resident identified a police photo as the suspect who stopped for directions then departed toward Peru road. Whitfield a mulatto is wanted by Cleveland police for killing Patrolman Dennis Griffin whose body was found in a shallow grave with his uniform nearby. He was arrested in Madison Wisconsin Tuesday evening but escaped. Reports place him at La Salle and Ottawa filling stations for gasoline.

Stole Ice Cream From Local Factory by Youths
A group of north end youths broke into Gunther's Ice Cream factory Saturday night and stole one gallon cans of ice cream and brick cream. They gained entry by breaking an east window. Albert Pozzi aged 22 a shoe maker at Kelly Harness and Shoe Shop Ottawa killed himself Saturday afternoon. He severed his wrists and stabbed his heart with a shoemaker knife. Found in the basement by owner William H Kelly. Pozzi had been acting strangely, homesick for Sunny Italy, and had not eaten. Born in Ladd June 26 1900, brought to Italy as a child, unmarried with two uncles in the United States.
