Former De Pue Resident Bernard Yocks Dies at 70
Bernard Yocks 70, longtime De Pue resident for nearly thirty years, died at his daughter Mrs. James Phelps home in Silvis. Born in Essen on March 12 1853 he emigrated to America in 1881 and lived in De Pue until 1910 when he moved to Silvis. He leaves six daughters including Mrs. J H Lawless of De Pue and Mrs. John Navin of Spring Valley, and fourteen grandchildren. His wife and two sons died earlier. Burial will be in St Joseph's Cemetery after funeral at St Mary's Catholic Church De Pue Friday at 9 AM.

Moonshine Raids Seize 40 Gallons in De Pue
State and county officers with warrants from State's Attorney Johnson raided two De Pue sites last Thursday afternoon. They recovered forty gallons of rye moonshine and a still in the Gosinsky residence while Zeroy and Gosinsky faces summons for federal liquor law violations. A basement room yielded the still and liquor. Mrs Gosinsky claimed her husband innocence and said she would go to jail in his stead. Deputy Hopkins read the warrant to Mrs Zeroy who denied possession and led officers through the home. The raid term used the deputies Applen, Hopkins and Conkling.
