Washington Territory a land of timber mines and seas

Washington Territory stretches across seventy thousand square miles with Puget Sound waters shaping a rich, varied landscape. Timberlands cover about twenty million acres yielding red fir, white pine, cedar and spruce while mining potential inclines with coal near Puget Sound and iron near Seattle. Fishing thrives in Puget Sound with abundant salmon, herring, halibut and shellfish.
