Why County Normal Was Limited to One Week
Inquiries arise over a one week County Normal term while past years offered two to four weeks. Limited revenue and funds prevent a longer term. Summer schools for teachers now perform much of the former academic work, reducing the need for extended sessions. Educators favor using the brief period to share teaching methods and inspire enthusiasm rather than extend textbook instruction. The one week norm follows Iowawide trend this year and likely will continue.
