Mrs O A Bjornstad entertained a large party of lady friends on two afternoons for her guest Miss Bessie Long of Frankfort Indiana. Elegant five course luncheons were served with pink carnation decorations. Mrs H E Glover and Mrs J Coleman of Everly assisted.
Dr. Fletcher Brown, longtime Sanborn physician now in Des Moines, visited Spencer on Wednesday. He was found to be a morphine addict and was taken to a local doctor for treatment before being discharged to return to Des Moines.
Mrs D T Emerson's class pledged fifty dollars and presented A Dream of Fairyland at the Christian church. The well attended performance impressed patrons with fine line work by the little ladies. Receipts totaled 50,256 after light expenses, nearly meeting the pledge.
Northeast Freeman reports Mrs. F. W. Louse and son Harry returned from Ayrshire after visiting relatives. Farmers are busy in cornfields. Rhoda Madsen visited Ruthven. Burton Blunt shearing sheep for Madsen and Hanna. Sadie Tripp and others left for Spencer Teachers Institute. Rouse marketed hogs in Ruthven. Community attended an Opera House entertainment. James Hansen recovering from illness. Mrs. Andrew Hansen visited Hans Holmberg.
Langdon residents share weekend calls with Spencer visits and homecomings. Mrs Henry Lawrence returns from Tennessee and Mrs Lawrence ill after her trip. Maggie Rebly aided her sister in Spencer while others hosted and traveled. Will Purinton worked on Langdon streets this week. John and Herman Nissen file for P R Milton. The Ladies Glad Tidings Circle meets June 23 with Mrs C Chamberlain. Further Spencer and Estherville visits noted among Langdon families. Charlie Moran visits near Emmetsburg then heads to Milton’s. Inez Johnson visits uncle and aunt C Johnson in Langdon.
Notification from A W Greene that his daughter Miss Clara Greene of Phoenix Winzons has died. The family will travel to the city with the remains and the funeral is expected to be held Sunday.

Old veterans enjoyed a reunion last week when John Watts visited Elisha Roberts of Mason City. The pair, schoolmates and army teammates, spoke of old times and war days. Veterans notes say such meetings are cherished as ranks thin.
The Farmers Grain Co holds its annual picnic this Saturday in July. Mr Miles Ek Culver of Chicago, representative of the American Co-Operative Journal, will deliver the address. A Sunday afternoon crash three miles south of town involved Fisk and Walker driving a team when an automobile struck.
