Marchers Rally in Washington for Solidarity Day
It was the first major 1980s protest march in Washington as thousands for labor gathered under a blue grey sky near the Washington Monument. Carpenters from New Jersey joined others including a Connecticut librarian and Cleveland mental health workers, voicing concerns over Reagan era budget cuts and governance while singing country tunes and smoking Marlboros, not marijuana.
