Ryan sentenced to six years in prison for state contracts scheme

SIUC Enrollment Drops 438 Students in 2006 Fall

Robber shoots self after Benton Farm Fresh hold-up chase

In rural Benton a suspect in an armed Farm Fresh robbery fled police and exchanged gunfire during a pursuit. Jeffery A. McElyea, 22, was in very grave condition after being flown to a Cape Girardeau hospital. He, from West Frankfort, robbed the North Main Street store around 11 a.m. taking an undetermined cash amount. Store video showed the incident before the pursuit.
