Du Quoin approves three year teachers and staff deal
Du Quoin School Board approved a three year contract for teachers and non certified staff by a 6-1 vote. The package provides 3.44 percent salary increases plus step raises totaling about 5 percent annually for certified staff and 5 percent annually for non certified personnel. The district faces about 340000 more in salary costs this year, with payroll for 190 personnel exceeding 7 million dollars. The plan keeps full insurance premiums but shifts to a restructured Blue Cross Blue Shield plan with a higher deductible. Costs rise to 72000 this year despite plan changes. The district will boost self insurance funding by 100000 this year and 50000 in each of the next two years to aid family coverage.
