Zeigler hikes trash water and sewer fees
Zeigler residents will pay higher fees starting November 1 for trash collection water and sewer service. City council approved average increases of about $1 monthly for garbage and roughly 25 cents per 1000 gallons for water and sewer to cover rising costs. The one year contract with George T Hill raises garbage rates and includes landfill cost coverage and billing fees. Water and sewer minimums jump to 4500 and 4 respectively with tiered per thousand rates. Mayor Raymond Owens says the move avoids losses in the systems. The session also noted riprapped lagoon and cleared ditches per EPA recommendations.
