Carbondale weighs move to one high school campus
Carbondale District 165 faces consolidation after a boom era failed to materialize. With enrollment shrinking to about 1,256 this year and forecasts of 1,100 to 1,150 next year, officials propose shifting all high school operations to East Campus to cut bus costs, utilities, and duplicative staff. A May meeting will outline a one-move or staged plan, aiming for a 1984 85 start if bonds and construction proceed.
