Hurst shifts police chief role to part time
Mayor Loomis Carter states the move to part time will boost police coverage while cutting costs. Chief Ben Harrison resigned as the position became part time. James Robinson was hired to replace him, with plans for two to three additional part time officers. 24 hour protection remains, and annual costs drop from 13,000 to 6,000–8,000. Robinson, a coal miner, will work several hours daily.
