Geological survey under way for Pope County lake site
A state geological survey started to assess a proposed recreation lake near Golconda in Pope County. The study, funded jointly by the state and the U S Forest Service, will evaluate feasibility, costs, and possible locations upstream on Laisk Creek. Officials expect results by summer, with funding requests to Congress if the lake is deemed feasible.
