Probe: Madigan probes Kohl regional education office
The Franklin Williamson Regional Office of Education faces a state audit by Kemper CPA Group for the year ending June 30, 2002. Findings include $68,000 in grants with inadequate documentation and improper payroll overpayments totaling more than $100,000, plus contracts lacking details or approvals. Eight individuals received excess or misallocated pay, and grant funds showed poor internal controls and misalignment with ledgers. The 12 member Legislative Audit Commission chairs by Sen. Vince Demuzio oversees the inquiry. Attempts to reach Barry Kohl were not successful.
