Farm zoo breeder reveals exotic stock and costs near Chattanooga
Shadow, who runs a nursery and keeps cattle, explains he sells to zoos and demands buyers prove care facilities. He cites prices such as 1000 for a young female llama and 300 for a young male. His exotic stock includes black buck antelope from India, scimitar horned oryx from Chad, drome dary camels, llamas, bison, yaks, Texas longhorns, and more. He notes high fences, special stalls, varied feeds, and that many animals come from zoos selling offspring. Captive breeding may be key for endangered species as populations grow. Shadow says there are now more black buck antelope on U S farms than in India.
