Logan College Summer Enrollment Rises 9 Percent
John A. Logan College Carterville reports 483 students for the summer quarter, an increase of 9 percent from last year. Of the 483, 170 are full time and 313 part time, with Marion district providing the most students at 133. Other districts include Carbondale 105, Herrin 55, West Frankfort 51, Murphysboro 42, Carterville 41, Du Quoin 15, Johnston City 15, Elverado 5, Mississippi Valley 3, Crab Orchard 4, and out of district 12. The summer session began June 20 and runs to September 1.

Tamaroa High School cafeteria expansion bid planned
Tamaroa High School will open bids at 8 p m on July 17 to enlarge the cafeteria and kitchen. Superintendent Ray Lowry says the current cafe seats 120 students and portions eat in other rooms. The addition, about 15 by 50 feet, will add seating for 30.
