Resignation of Anna police chief at city council request
Roy Boone, 25, resigned Wednesday as Anna Police Chief at the council’s request after four years as chief at Cobden. Boone cited council decisions delaying his long range plan costing about 3500 more than the budget, including hiring, training, equipment, and new facilities. He said he had proposed funding via ALEC grants, increased revenues, and possible police taxes. The city, with a 1970 population of 4766, faces budget constraints and jail/dispatch issues while Boone critiqued the lack of support for improvements.
