Millionaire Whitney Keeps Movie Interest
New York June 26 AP multimillionaire Cornelius Van derbilt Whitney plans an ambitious independent film production program. He expects quality pictures and special attractions to draw viewers from television, noting the major studios struggle to produce 40 to 60 top quality films. Whitney helped finance Technicolor Cinerama and Selznick pictures including Gone With the Wind, in which he retains an eighth interest. He is a director of the Metropolitan Opera and the American Museum of Natural History and authored The Lone and Level Sands.
