South Americans Look to Europe for Leadership, Says Dr. Peacock
Dr. Vera L. Peacock of Southern Illinois University reports from a nine month South American tour that leaders in Peru Chile Argentina Uruguay and Brazil look to Europe rather than the United States. She warns U S attitudes irritate locals though individuals may differ and cites varied views on race and education. Peru and Bolivia show strong Indian culture while Uruguay Chile show contented life and Brazil shows limited public race prejudice and government efforts at intermarriage.
