Lawyer says Armes Cleared on Third Ballot
Ray Armes, 26, of Herrin, charged with shooting ex mayor Co. B. Hardin of Stoutland, Mo Aug 8 1949, cleared on the third ballot Thursday night at Camdenton. The defense said only identity was Hardin's wife who witnessed the shooting. Armes had been indicted in Kansas City for leaving the state to avoid prosecution.

Man Breaks Into Marlborough House Beats Housekeeper

California U fires 157 for refusing loyalty oath
