World Hurdle Record Set In NAUU Meet
Bakersfield Calif June 23 AP The NAUU track meet saw a world record in the high hurdles by Jack Davis a USC alum and Navy lieutenant with 13.4 seconds in a prelim heat though he lost in the finals Lee Calhoun NC College won the final 13.6. Bobby Morrow tied the 100 meter world mark 10.2 seconds in prelims and won the final 10.3 with Seamon King second Thane Baker third Davis's 13.4 shaved a tenth from the 1950 standard set by Dick Attlesey. Other records fell as Arnie Lowell 1 49 8 in the 800 prelims Ken Bantam 59 1 4 in shot Glenn Davis 50 9 in 400 hurdles Bobby Truex USC qualified for the Olympic team by winning the 10 000 meters in 30 52. Other U S team qualifiers included Dick Hart and Gordon McKenzie.
