Inflation hits school districts as costs outpace funding

AP Task Force finds many districts struggle with inflation, debt, and demands for more state aid. Despite state increases from 1.1 to 1.7 billion dollars and per pupil aid rising to about 773, districts report little relief. Some cut costs via private studies, buying pools, and state purchase programs, but most lack broad management reforms. Teachers’ salaries rose sharply, absorbing much of added funds, while inflation outpaced gains for other public workers.
