Rend Lake project eyed as boon for tourists business and jobs
Col. James Meanor Jr of the Army Corps of Engineers told 300 at Rend Lake Days that the project will create a recreation service industry and new jobs while boosting nearby towns. Land will be zoned for an industrial park and public use areas, with two recreation sites planned and four hunter fisher access points. The initiative aims to reduce flood threat, supply water to 20 communities, and attract industry, though 40 000 acres will be acquired with careful handling.
