Illinois sewer fee sparks protest over funds diverted to general fund
City officials gather at a meeting to challenge a roughly 20 million dollar sewer fee that mostly funnels into Illinois general funds. EPA says 6.4 million supports the agency with remaining revenues shared elsewhere. Carbondale Mayor Brad Cole warns future fees could spike to 50,000. Representative Mike Bost notes the status of a bill to repeal the fee.
