Five hundred union workers at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will receive a 2 percent raise retroactive to Feb. 1 along with 3,000 other campus employees, after arbitration over a pay hike. Chancellor Walter Wendler announced the decision Friday noting the delay and higher costs but expressing hope the increase eases worker hardship.
Former Illinois lawmaker Larry Woolard, now an economic development czar for Southern Illinois, praised Governor Rod Blagojevichs budget proposal as strong and good for the region as the June 30 budget deadline nears. He spoke on behalf of SEE WOOLARD.
