Du Quoin firefighter Corey Shaw dies in Pinckneyville blaze
Corey Shaw, 22, of Du Quoin died Friday while fighting a blaze on the Pinckneyville town square. Visitation is Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. at Du Quoin Middle School. Funeral Wednesday 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with burial in Old Du Quoin Cemetery. Memorials to an education fund for his daughter Camryn Ray Shaw.

No board of review members certified in Murphysboro panel
The Jackson County Board of Review has operated for over a year with two members none certified to rule on tax appeals. Former Chairman Ira Reeves, the last certified member, died in July. Jim Pribble chairs the panel with John Vallino, a retired teacher and former real estate agent, appointed in September. both plan to take the certification test in August.
