Carbondale Man Receives Purple Heart in Iraq

Sgt. Christopher Miller, 23, of Carbondale, Iraq tour, received a Purple Heart after a car bomb near Baghdad damaged his vehicle. He suffered ear drum perforations, a burned neck, and facial shrapnel injuries while serving with Service Battery, 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery, 1st Armored Division.

93 Children at Day Camp Blend Faith And Sports

93 children from fifth through eighth grade participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Day Camp at Du Quoin middle school learning football track cheerleading and volleyball while sharing Christian values. West Frankfort woman remembered as a kind hearted animal lover

Connie Forsythe, 55, of West Frankfort, was struck and killed by a car while walking on Illinois 149 near Orient Road Wednesday. She was known for her care of animals and helping others, living with sister Bonnie Ridenour, Nelson Ridenour, and their daughter Tracy on Rose Lane. Her family recalls her as a wonderful, caring person as investigators note the location near Orient Road.
