Winters celebrate 50th wedding anniversary in Carterville
An open house will fete Mr. and Mrs. Frank Winters for their 50th wedding anniversary in Carterville. Friends and relatives are invited 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Hostesses are their daughter Mrs Albert Woodcock of Butler Pennsylvania. A son Frank Jr a Navy Pilot was lost in the South Pacific in World War II. Mrs Winters is the former Bonnie Dodd. They have two grandchildren.

The next regular meeting is July 2 with installation August 6. The Women’s Guild of St Pauls United Church of Christ near Johnston City hosted Marion Zion Church guild for a luncheon Mrs John Beihi led devotions and Mrs John Gustat gave a lesson on early Illinois history and churches

Southern Illinois VS Vocational Tech nurse alumnae meet
The practical nurse alumnae group of Southern Illinois University s Vocational Technical Institute met in the nursing classroom where coordinator Mrs Winifred Mitchell demonstrated new audio visual devices for training. Meetings occur on the second Tuesday of January April July and October with the next on October 8 urging all alumnae to attend and stay active. To prevent musty suitcases place an unwrapped soap bar inside.
