Street workers get jobs under Benton agreement
Benton city officials say two laid off street department workers may return to work Monday after union representatives sign a compromise. Dennis Pedigo is to be rehired and Timothy Lampley placed in a vacant meterman position created by retirement. The contract will base future layoffs on seniority by job classification, not by department, ending a long dispute. The Local 533 Union of Operating Engineers represents the workers and a lawsuit will be dismissed as part of the agreement.
