First SIU Nursing Course Graduates Reach Milestone

The first group of Southern Illinois University nursing students, completing the four year basic program, will receive degrees in June. The 1957 cohort, with no prior nursing education, included Luisanne Chicago Heights, Joan Pratte, Centreville, and Beverly Jade Pana. They spent time at Doctors' Hospital Holden Carbondale Anna State Hospital and East Side Health District, under faculty supervision.

Police Briefs Fines for Stop Sign Violations

Harold Lee Livingston of Ime Missouri was fined eight dollars including costs by Justice of the Peace John Manken for disobeying a stop sign on a ticket issued by State Trooper Berdel Hasemeyer. Charles F. Hillard of Melrose Park was fined eight dollars including costs for disobeying a stop sign on a ticket issued by State Trooper Olen Lampe.
