Critics say WTC site proposals lack breadth and boldness
Six redevelopment plans for the World Trade Center site released in New York face mixed reactions. Critics say they overemphasize office space while offering little imaginative scope, though all include a memorial and a major transportation hub. Plans envision replacing lost office and retail space with a 600,000 square foot hotel and a memorial covering four to ten acres, with footprints preserved or relocated.
