Habitat home brings stability to Carterville family
The Carmona family, once migrant workers, now own a Habitat for Humanity house on Hanseman Street near East Walnut in Carbondale. Esmeraldo Sr and Jr describe the secure future the 31,000 dollar mortgage and 250 monthly payments provide, with sweat equity and neighbor help building their home. Andrea, Susana, and Jose Luis attend local schools as the family plans for SIUC studies and careers in nursing or law.
