Terriers Petrone Aces State Track Hurdle To Win

Carbondale senior Mike Petrone toppled a late state track hurdle for victory at Charleston's O'Brien Stadium. After slipping on a rain drenched May 30, he recovered to clear 5-10 in the finals, surpassing his earlier 6-10 season mark and ending Carbondale Community High School's long wait for a state title. Petrone pushed through injury as the top seed, driven by last year's near miss and his mother's support in the stands.
