On this date in 1776 Thomas Jefferson paid for his first thermometer and signed the Declaration of Independence. Records show a 2 p.m. Philadelphia temperature of 76 degrees under cloudy skies as CALSISTO, WPSD Channel 6 chief meteorologist, reports yesterday’s humidity at 5 p.m. 55 percent and barometric pressure at 29.88 inches and falling.
