Carterville Library Opens In New Double Sized Home

Carterville’s public library has moved to a larger site at 117 S Division St in the former civic center. Director Brenda Wallace-Bowden says the 7,000-volume library now offers 2,400 square feet, a browsing area and topic collections, with hours set for weekdays and weekend slots. The move followed boiler work and space limits since the building’s 1900s city hall origin, and aims to solidify the library as a community center for the town.
