Tragedy on Harrison Road details murky murder suicide
A 26 year old Murphysboro woman LuAnn Gatewood and 25 year old Springfield man Bernard J Godbey were found dead in a trailer on Harrison Road north of Murphysboro. Coroner Don Ragsdale says authorities believe Godbey shot Gatewood then killed himself. Gatewood was an SIU Carbondale flight instructor and pilot with a 1980 rating, a 1976 SIUC animal science graduate, and a Mattoon High School alum. Funeral services set for Mattoon church. memorial fund established with SIU Foundation. Godbey funeral arrangements pending.
