Illinois Lottery apologizes after bounced winning checks
The Illinois Lottery says its bank failed to authorize about 85 of 311 checks dated December 28, mostly $1,000 prizes, due to a late file caused by holiday staffing. Winners could claim at state offices, with total affected funds around $159,000 and the largest lost prize $9,500.
