Colorado residents near Leadville celebrate a winter scene at 10,200 feet above sea level about 150 miles west of Denver. Sleeping Indian Mountain looms in the distance as AP wire photos capture the moment.
State police logged five minor injury accidents during the Christmas eve holiday period. On Rt 151 near the Kinkaid Creek bridge, Emma Pape by George Pape both of Rt 1 Jacob western Jackson County were treated at Memorial Hospital in Chester for minor injuries after their car ran off the road Friday. On Rt 460 near Mt Vernon, Winford Sellers 24 of Cuba Missouri and Eliza Anderson 62 of Opdyke were in a collision. Anderson treated and released at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt Vernon while Sellers had no injuries. At Johnston City blacktop 5:45 p m Friday Carl Barker 70 West Frankfort and John Langan 67 Johnston City collided. Langan sustained minor injuries and Barker was not hurt. Lee Smith 70 Harrisburg treated after his car rear ended a car driven by Alitha Barker 56 Harrisburg at 5:45 p m Friday on Rt 45 north of Muddy. Barker not injured. Richard Blitz 22 Coulterville ran off the road into a tree on Rt 154 near Coulterville around 1:30 a m Saturday. Blitz treated for minor injuries and released from Sparta Community Hospital.
