Retailers Must Display Base Prices in Washington
The IRS announced price display rules under Price Commission guidelines effective before January 2, 1972. Retailers with under 100000 in yearly sales must show base prices on their top 40 items or those making half of annual sales, while those with over 100000 must post base prices on the top 40 items per department and all non exempt food products. Base price equals the freeze period price, typically the 30 days ending August 14, 1971, and access to base prices cannot require requesting information.
