Kilquist ends certain nonemergency dispatch services
The Jackson County Ambulance Service and county board members react to Sheriff Bill Kilquist's Nov. 27 letter announcing the sheriff's office will stop providing long-distance and wheelchair van transfer dispatching beginning Jan. 1. Kilquist says the extra duties burden the dispatch center though the service previously paid 5,833 dollars monthly. The duties, he notes, should fall under other authorities.

It notes marker sites along Illinois 146, and cites the 1835 Cherokee census and the phrase Never Little.
