Lawmakers meet deadlines for taxpayer funded mailers
Illinois lawmakers face a December 15 deadline to finalize proofs for taxpayer funded newsletters and brochures. The prints must reach mail by January 31 with no mailings after February 1 in primary years. Some lawmakers, like State Rep. Jason Barickman, decline these communications, while others defend them as free public outreach. The piece also notes candidate races, including Barickman against Sen. Shane Cultra, and mentions the auditor general position with pay and responsibilities.
