Boeing to Cut Up To 1500 More At Ridley Plant
Boeing will lay off up to 1500 more workers at its Ridley Township rotor craft facility over the next year as demand drops for the V-22 Osprey and CH-47 Chinook. The cuts follow 300 layoffs in January, reducing this year’s plant workforce to about 5000, with total headcount falling to 3500 to 4000 by mid-2004. Four Marines were killed in last December’s Osprey crash near Camp Lejeune, contributing to program delays and slow production.
