Avian TB Hits Hogs in Six Southern Illinois Counties
A three year study by Dr. C M Parker finds avian tuberculosis in swine across six Southern Illinois counties. Among 175 hog herds and 647 animals, 54.9 percent of herds and 28 percent of animals were infected, with higher rates in pure bred stock. Parker warns poultry flocks spread TB to swine and urges pullet-only flocks to stop losses.
