Young farmer's hard year tests Iowa couple’s dream

Homer Showman and wife Gail, both in their 30s, faced a brutal first year of farming in Massonville Iowa. They borrowed 30000 dollars and lived on Gail's teacher salary while weather and equipment woes squeezed cash. Despite losses, they press on, hoping wages and equity in livestock and machinery lead to a larger future and possible land ownership.
