Storms leave 100000 without power across northern Illinois
Northern Illinois faced outages for more than 100000 ComEd customers as floodwaters slowed after two days of severe storms. Crews from Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Philadelphia and Southern Illinois aided restoration of power, with full recovery said to take days. Local residents described rising waters and relief as rivers edged down, while officials extended flood warnings through Sunday for 14 northeastern counties. Governor Blagojevich declared disaster areas in five counties to speed state aid.
